The General Secretariat of the WAMU Banking Commission organized, on Friday, May 19, 2023, the first edition of the consultation meeting with the General Managers of electronic money institutions (EMIs), which was held online via Google Meet.

The opening address of the meeting was delivered, on behalf of Mr. Jean-Claude Kassi BROU, Governor of the BCEAO, President of the WAEMU Banking Commission, by Mr. Antoine TRAORE, Secretary General of the Banking Commission. After recalling in particular the key role of EMEs in access to digital financial services, Mr. TRAORE called for strengthening the management of risks related to their activity.

The work was then led by Mr. Habib THIAM, Deputy Secretary General of the Banking Commission. The discussions focused mainly on recent developments in the situation of EMEs, the main findings from documentary and on-site checks, actions to monitor payment methods and services and, finally, the regularity and reliability of the specific reporting of these taxable persons.
