The ninth (9^th) annual meeting between the General Secretariat of the WAMU Banking Commission (SGCB) and the General Secretariat of the Central African Banking Commission (SG-COBAC) was held by videoconference on November 4, 2021. The delegations of the two Institutions were led by their respective Secretaries General, Messrs. Antoine TRAORE and Yérima Halilou BOUBAKARY.

The work focused on the following four (4) themes:

• Evaluation and effectiveness of the measures taken to address the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the two jurisdictions;
• Transposition of the Basel II and III: update on implementation and difficulties encountered;
• Developments and difficulties encountered in the supervision of banking groups established in the two jurisdictions;
• State of play in the microfinance sector: monitoring of institutions in difficulty.

Before the actual start of the work, a minute of silence was observed in tribute to Messrs. Casimir Oyé MBA and Charles Konan BANNY, former Governors of the BEAC and the BCEAO, who died in September 2021.
