Seventh meeting of the College of Supervisors of the Ecobank Group

The Banking Commission of the West African Monetary Union organized, on October 27 and 28, 2021 by videoconference, in its capacity as the home Supervisory Authority, the seventh meeting of the College of Supervisors of the Ecobank group.

This meeting is part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Basel Committee for effective supervision of cross-border banking groups. It was chaired by Mr. Antoine TRAORE, Secretary General of the WAEMU Banking Commission, representing Mr. Tiémoko Meyliet KONE, Governor of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO), President of the WAEMU Banking Commission.

The sessions brought together fifty-five (55) participants from eighteen (18) Supervisory Authorities of the parent company Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) and its subsidiaries. The BCEAO was represented by the General Directorate of Financial Stability and Financing of Economies.

The work focused in particular on monitoring the implementation of the recommendations from the sixth meeting, the activities and risk profile of ETI and its subsidiaries, the summary of the risks borne by the banking entities of the group, the presentation by Ecobank managers on the group, its governance and strategy, the summary of the implementation of the recommendations of the sixth college as well as the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the situation of the holding company and its units.
